When you’re used to feeling unwell, you forget how amazing you can feel.
❤️I wanted to share a bit of my health journey over the last few weeks in hopes of helping others❤️
Due to an on going battle with eczema and achy joints and all of sudden dealing with digestive issues I decided it was time to address the inflammation going on in my body. I had been managing it all with essential oils and supplementation but I wanted to get to the root cause. I noticed that every time I ate gluten I had severe bloating and pain. Like my belly ballooned out to where I looked about 7 months pregnant. After much reading and studying I decided I would do the elimination diet.
let’s talk about Inflammation first.
Inflammation has been found to be associated with just about every health condition.
Generally modern medicine focuses on treating symptoms, not addressing the root cause of an issue. Arthritis is inflammation of the joints. Heart disease is inflammation of the arteries. Instead of taking a medication to reduce joint pain or lower cholesterol, why not focus on reducing inflammation in the body.
A poor diet, stress, minor food allergies, a sedentary lifestyle and more can contribute to chronic inflammation.
I knew from research that I needed to eliminate these food groups out of my lifestyle because of the inflammation they cause. The idea of the elimination diet is to eliminate the following food groups for at least 1 month. After 1 month you add 1 group back in at a time and evaluate how your body responds. By doing this you should be able to figure out which one is triggering your health problems.
-Corn and soybean oils
-Processed lunch meat and grain fed meats
Was it hard? actually no. I was TIRED of the eczema and digestive issues. I made sure I stocked my house with lots of grass- fed and free- range meat, fruit, veggies, and nuts. I walked into the grocery store with the mindset of abundance. I had the outlook of ‘Look at all the food I CAN eat’, instead of look at all of this yummy food I can’t eat anymore.
Within the 1st day my digestive issues were GONE. My eczema is healing and an added bonus, I shed 7 lbs of unneeded and UNWANTED weight in 2 weeks. After the 1st week I felt so good that I decided I didn’t even want to bring any of the food groups back in after a month because I feel so good. I have had gluten once in the last month by accident and I had the pregnant looking belly with painful bloating.
NOW how did I support my body through this change?
I was also loyal to taking my doTERRA lifelong vitality supplements, a digestive enzyme (helps breakdown food- lifesaver! If you do not have a bowel movement daily, you NEED this!), and PB assist probiotic (provides the gut with good bacteria).
I did doterra citrus oils in water ALL day! I would start with 1 drop of slim and sassy (helps with metabolism and blood sugar), then would rotate grapefruit, lemon, tangerine and green mandarin.
I also made a healthy cell, inflammation-fighting veggie cap concoction of 1-2 drops turmeric, Frankincense, copaiba, pink pepper, and yarrow/Pom.
And for those cravings I popped in doterra slim and sassy metabolic gum.
If you struggle with chronic headaches, brain fog, digestive issues, psoriasis, eczema, acne, chronic sinus infections and colds, trouble sleeping I recommend getting to the root cause by eliminating these foods.
